The auditions are held every Spring to determine the opening act of the Billtown Blues Festival. Acts are chosen by the BBA audition committee to compete for the coveted position from applications submitted from top local and regional BLUES performers.

Working blues performers interested in participating should fill out and mail an application PLUS the other required items to the BBA. (See application for requirements, mailing address and the deadline). The winning acts not only will play our Festival, but are also eligible to submit for acceptance in the International Blues Challenge talent competition sponsored by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN as representatives of the Billtown Blues Association.

The participants will be judged and the winners determined by all eligible voting BBA members in attendance at the Audition Concert (see below for voting eligibility rules). Eligible BBA members can pick up their ballots at the Audition Concert, at the table at the entrance to the Genetti ballroom.

BBA members eligible to vote at the Festival Audition Concert are:
  - Current members with an expiration date of 07/01/09 or later as of January 1, 2009
  - NEW members who joined the BBA prior to January 1, 2009 with an expiration date of 07/01/09 or later
  - Renewing members with an expiration date of 07/01/08 (these are the ONLY members
    who can pay dues the day of the audition concert and be eligible to vote)

New memberships will be accepted day of audition concert, but you will NOT be eligible to vote.

If you were a member in the past, with an expiration date prior to 07/01/08, you will be considered a NEW member when you rejoin. Per criteria above, you will NOT be eligible to vote if you did not rejoin before January 1, 2009.
